It arrived as a tired old working truck. The rebuild quickly became about everything underneath it: chassis, axle, suspension and brakes first — cosmetics later.

HOW IT ARRIVED
THE BEFORE.
From rusty steel wheels and tired bodywork to years of grime underneath, the Ranger looked exactly like a truck that had spent its life working. Rather than hide the starting point, this is the photo that makes the rebuild make sense.
Once the bed came off, we could get proper access to the rear chassis and see exactly what needed doing. That turned the job into a chassis-up restoration rather than a quick cosmetic tidy-up.
CURRENT STAGE
BACK ON ITS WHEELS.
The major underneath work is now back together. The Ranger is rolling again and, even better, the engine is running.
The rear axle has been restored and refitted, with the rebuilt rear end, suspension, brakes and brake lines now back together. After spending so long as a stripped chassis, the truck has finally reached a major milestone: it is back on its wheels and the engine is running.
The next job is to get the Ranger outside so the bed can come into the workshop. That can then be properly stripped back, the holes and rust repaired, and the remaining parts refitted.

NEXT: THE BED.
This is the point where the Ranger finally starts looking like a vehicle again. It is back on all four wheels and the engine is running, so the chassis and mechanical rebuild has moved on from strip-down and reassembly into the final bodywork phase.
Next, the truck gets moved outside and the bed comes into the workshop. The rust and holes in the bed will be repaired properly before everything is refitted.
